ReplyDeleteDefinitely! There are plenty of benefits that language learners can get from using authentic materials/realia in the classroom. Why? Because these types of materials make them see how is the real world, there outside the classroom, and at the same time, they learn how to put those materials in real communication situations where language is needed. Thereby, when those situations come, learners will know how to manage them.

ReplyDeleteAs it is explaining in this blog i consider that students who are exposed to the use of authentic materials and realia get different benefits. As we experimented in our class, the use of these materials helps students to increase the interaction and get a sense of how to use this kind of material at the moment of teaching.

Most of the learnes want to learn a second languae to communicate native speakers of that language and this kind of material are the best way to teach them the "real" language that peopple use everyday.

Absolutly, personally I consider that authentic materials and realia are a must have element to teach a second language because they involve the learners into a more real experience letting them know how to use the target language to communicate.
